The Tumblr Social media announced the website will be ban
the any "adult content" or posting any type of media that depicts
"real life human genitals or female-presenting nipples.". The Tumblr
social media posted in a blog post, they have a responsibility of that social
media and they took that decision according to the impact across different age
groups, demographics, cultures and mindsets.
According to research reported on by Vice in 2016, while
less than 1% of Tumblrs then-130 million users posted pornography,
approximately 22% of users viewed it while 28% of users were “unintentionally
exposed” to pornography.
The Tumblr Social media decided to take away the platform that
make a safe space to Adult content (NSFW content) and explore their identity.
Tumblr will soon ban the content featuring nudity and pornography in the Tumblr
website. Anything considered "Adult content" is banned, including
images, videos and GIF images of presenting pornography are banned under the
new policy of Tumblr. The said the new policy and the new set of rules and
regulations will be effect on 17th of December 2018.
This announcement comes two weeks after the micro-blogging
site was kicked off Apple’s App Store because some users had posted and
downloaded photographs of child sex abuse. As of this article’s publication,
the app hadn’t yet returned to Apple’s app store.
In 2013, The Yahoo bought the Tumblr for $US 1.1 billion.
The former CEO was the Marissa Mayer. Though Yahoo would end up writing down
the lion’s share of the acquisition. A few months after Verizon’s acquisition
of Yahoo closed, the founder of Tumblr David Karp left. In January, Jeff D’Onofrio
replaced as the chief operating officer of the company.
Jeff D’Onofrio said “We’ve realized that in order to
continue to fulfil our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves,
we must change.” Also, he said that, the have responsibility to consider that
impact across different age groups, cultures and mindsets for continues grow
and evolve.
Already, Tumblr flagged as a website with adult content in
the social. But Immediately the Tumblr will remove that black mark of the adult
content. The adult content post will made privately till the 17 the of
December. So, the users can have a short time to preserve their content before permanently
deleted from the Tumblr.
Tumblr said, “There are no shortage of sites on the internet
that feature adult content, we will leave it to them and focus our efforts on
creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.”

- Photos, Videos or GIF images that have content of real-life human genitals or female-presenting nudity.
- Content and illustrations that shows sex acts.
- Exposed female-presenting nipples in connection with breastfeeding, birth or after-birth moments, and health-related situations, such as post-mastectomy or gender confirmation surgery.
The reactions of the users of Tumblr maybe the cause to
change the policy in Tumblr. Most people blamed about the adult content, but someone
is warning about ban the adult content. Because some users of the Tumble will
leave the website of this new policy. May be this is the end of the Tumblr
website. or Not.
