How do we host a Website

Step 1: Decide what type of Website you want 

There are two types of websites. According to the requirements of your website, you can select a suitable website type.  

Static Website –  

Static websites are simple websites with one or more web pages. This static website doesn’t change the web content when running the webpage. It is static. No changes. These websites are only for display the webpages. There are not dynamic html contents to change the webpage according to user actions. 

Dynamic Website –  

Dynamic websites contain information, web content that changes according to the time of the day, user inputs and actions. There is a client side and server side scripts to change the web content of the website. Dynamic website have a database connection and that allows to add, edit delete content of information of the website. E-commerce websites, Web solutions(ERP,POS) are use the dynamic websites to achieve their requirements.

Step 2: Choose a suitable Hosting Server 

This is not for Static websites. When we host a dynamic website we have to select what type of hosting server we should use. It depends on the web technology that you used in the web application. 

Linux server - PHP, Perl, Python,Unix-originated languages, PostgreSQL and MySQL databases 

Windows Server - .NET Technologies, Microsoft SQL Server and Access database

Step 4: Purchase a suitable Domain Name 

After purchasing a hosting space, we need a unique name to search our website in the internet. So, we have to purchase a domain name from domain name service provider. There are many domain name service provides. There are many types of domain name extensions. 

example: .com, .org, .net, and .biz 

Sometimes, the hosting provider also provide the domain name service. So, we can search out a name in the domain name service provider, if our name is available then we can purchase that domain name. If not, we must check another name for our website. After purchasing the domain name, we can change the name servers of your domain name. So we can attach the domain name to our hosting web site.  

Step 5: Uploading files 

We can upload our website files using the file manager in cPanel. As well as we can upload our website files using FTP clients. There are several FTP clients. 

Example – FileZilla, FireFTP, WinSCP and Core FTP LE 

Then we can go to our website thought the domain name that we purchased. Simply we have to write the domain name on the google and search it. Then we can see our website in the web browser. 

Step 6: Setting Up Databases 

If we have a dynamic website, we have to setup the databases in the cPanel. Simply we can create new database and import a sql file to create tables etc. Also, we have to change the settings of the codes in the database connection in files. Then we can test it and finished up the website.
